Detroit Metal Musician Jeremy Waun Takes the Acoustic Route with Latest Album Release
The Detroit musician discusses his transition from hardcore bands to being an acoustic singer-songwriter.
Jerry Waun is recognized on the Detroit music scene as a heavy metal and punk rocker. His name has traveled across bands like Child Bite and Reverend. But, ever-so-often, artists experience an urge to branch out and explore varied musical taste and styles.
“The acoustic thing, is a whole different thing from my metal punk trajectory.” – Jerry Waun, musician
Such has been the case for Waun. Over the past few years, the singer-songwriter has taken a softer, more acoustic approach to his music.
“The acoustic thing, is a whole different thing from my metal punk trajectory, but it’s kind of like my truest form,” he tells CultureShift’s Amanda LeClaire. “With the heavier bands it’s more subjective and I’m going straight to my guitar and going for the riff. Acoustic, it’s more of a feeling, completely.”
Waun just released a 7″ album, “Whole World Sings,” and sat down for an interview with LeClaire.
