Take a Tour of Detroit’s Urban Farms and Gardens
Tee Rushdan of Keep Growing Detroit joins Detroit Today with Stephen Henderson to talk about the tours and urban gardening in Detroit.
For those in the know, Detroit’s vibrant urban farming and gardening scene isn’t necessarily new. But that doesn’t mean it’s not worth celebrating. And there’s millions of people in the metro area who aren’t familiar with Detroit’s green spaces.
That’s part of the reason that the organization Keep Growing Detroit has been inviting people to go on tours of urban gardens for more than 20 years.
You can hop on a bus or ride your bike through Detroit’s urban farms and gardens next week and meet some of the leaders who are working to repurpose vacant lands and feed their communities. “It’s just really interesting to see all the different varieties of gardens that are out there,” says Rushdan.
Here’s where you can find more information about next week’s tours.
