GLWA Issues Boil Water Advisory For 11 Oakland County Communities
Water main break causes loss of pressure, exposing system to potential contamination.
The Great Lakes Water Authority has issued a mandatory Boil Water Advisory for 11 Oakland County communities until further notice.
The GLWA says a water main broke on 14 Mile Road between Farmington and Drake roads Monday afternoon, Oct. 23. The break caused a loss or pressure, exposing the system to potential bacteria contamination.
The advisory covers these communities:

Bloomfield Township (the area bounded by South Blvd., Inkster, Adams, and 14 Mile roads)

Farmington Hills north of I-696

Keego Harbor

Novi (the area bounded by 14 Mile, Eight Mile, Napier, and Haggerty roads)

Oakland Township (the Hills of Oakland and Kings Pointe subdivisions)

Rochester Hills north of Hamlin Road and west of Livernois

GLWA says residents in the affected areas must boil their water for at least one minute then let it cool. Boiled, bottled, or disinfected water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food.
The cause of the water main break is unknown. The advisory will remain in effect until test results show it’s safe to drink.
