Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield Evacuated After Bomb Threat
Similar threats reported nationwide.
The Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield was evacuated after an anonymous caller made a bomb threat Wednesday. Authorities with the West Bloomfield Township Police Department cleared the area, confirming there was no viable threat. The JCC, which provides recreational and social services to the Metro Detroit Jewish community, is also the home to about 200 high school students who attend the Frankel Jewish Academy.
“Being in American for almost 25 years, to see something like that happen today it’s a little bit difficult. I moved here from a country where we had these things on a daily basis, to have it here in America, it’s a little bit troubling.”

According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, at least 32 JCCs across the country received bomb threats on Wednesday. Last week, 16 Jewish Community Centers were also targeted in a similar fashion. No injuries have been reported and the threats have not been verified.
