Listen to the latest episode of the “Detroit Evening Report” podcast.
Detroit’s three casinos reported $79.1 million in revenue for the month of November — down nearly 24% from November of last year.
According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, $76 million of the $79.1 million in monthly aggregate revenue (AGR) for the month of November was generated from table games and slots, and $3.1 million from retail sports betting.
Revenues were impacted in the early part of the month by a strike. Unionized employees at Motor City Casino, MGM Grand Detroit and Hollywood Casino at Greektown walked off the job Oct. 17 over pay, benefits and staffing issues.
Workers at MotorCity and Hollywood casinos agreed to a new tentative five-year agreement on Nov. 19, while MGM Grand workers settled a couple of weeks later. MGM Grand had 39% of the market in November. MotorCity had 34% and Hollywood Casino at Greektown had 27%, according to the gaming board.
The three casinos paid $9.4 million in wagering taxes to the city of Detroit last month.
