Former Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has endorsed Democratic Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin for Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat.

Bing served as Detroit’s mayor from 2009-2014. He also spent nine seasons with the Detroit Pistons and is a 7-time NBA All-Star.
Bing believes Slotkin will go to bat for Detroit in the Senate.
“The city of Detroit and the state of Michigan need a U.S. senator with integrity, honesty and a real record of getting things done,” Bing said in a statement. “I have faith in Elissa Slotkin to be that leader because I’ve seen what she has been able to accomplish — and I know she will go to bat for Detroit in the Senate. Elissa’s record in Congress reflects her commitment to listening to her constituents, and turning those words into action. I am thrilled to endorse Elissa for this seat, and I know she will deliver for Detroit and for Michigan in the U.S. Senate.”
Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords is also endorsing Slotkin via her GIFFORDS PAC gun reform organization.
Slotkin declared her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Senate earlier this year, shortly after Sen. Debbie Stabenow announced in January that she’s not seeking re-election in 2024.
