The Detroit Police Department has introduced a 12-point plan to address crime downtown.

One focus is the city’s curfew — which prohibits minors from being alone in public after 10 p.m. Police Chief James White says 12 juveniles were detained last weekend, and parents are being fined. White assures the department is not targeting kids but working to keep them safe.
Detroit police is also focused on public alcohol consumption as it increases the number of officers in places like Greektown and the Riverwalk.

White shared that DPD is collecting information on illegal gun possession and offering rewards for leads that result in arrests.
The increased enforcement comes amid a rise in gun violence — Detroit has reported more than 190 non-fatal shootings so far this year.
