Why Rep. Dan Kildee is running for office in the 8th Congressional District

There are a number of elections that are expected to be close, and that includes the 8th Congressional District race.
Democratic Congressman Dan Kildee is facing off against Republican challenger Paul Junge. Kildee has supported economic relief bills to combat COVID-19 and secured funding for infrastructure and blight removal. His district currently includes Flint, Bay City and Saginaw, and the new 8th District extends west to include Midland and rural Saginaw, but loses some territory to the north.

Congressman Dan Kildee is a Democrat from Flint Township representing Michigan’s 5th District. He’s running in the newly drawn 8th. He says he’s working to reduce healthcare costs to help Michiganders, especially when other costs remain high.
