Detroit Evening Report, September 2, 2022: Detroit offers cooling, power stations to residents

Welcome to the Detroit Evening Report, a daily round-up of news that city residents need to know.

Sun hot heat wave high temperatures

The city of Detroit is opening seven recreation centers that includes cooling stations to provide relief to residents during extreme heat and ongoing power outages.

Six of the seven centers opened Friday and will remain open until 8 p.m. Residents without power will have access to charging stations set up inside the centers. The seven recreation centers are listed below:

  • Adams Butzel Recreation Center, 10500 Lyndon
  • Butzel Family Center, 7737 Kercheval
  • Kemeny Recreation Center, 2260 S. Fort St.
  • Patton Recreation Center, 2301 Woodmere St.
  • Crowell Recreation Center, 16630 Lahser Rd.
  • Clemente Recreation Center, 2631 Bagley
  • Heilmann Recreation Center, 19601 Crusade
