Parks Stay Open Late For Dark Sky Week

DNR extends hours at 20 parks and recreation areas for stargazers.

Get away from the bright lights and you’ll get a better look at the stars, if the skies are clear. Twenty Michigan state parks and recreation areas are staying open late this week to celebrate International Dark Sky Week. Michigan Department of Natural Resources Promotions Coordinator Stephanie Wirtz tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller the parks offer better viewing for amateur astronomers who don’t mind the cold weather. International Dark Sky Week runs through Sunday, April 10.
