Snyder Will Face Congress This Week Regarding Flint Water
Governor Snyder will explain his role in Flint’s water crisis this week in Washington D.C.
This week Governor Rick Snyder will testify before Congress. Snyder is in Washington D.C. amidst the release of thousands of pages of emails between Snyder and members of his administration over the past couple of years regarding Flint, lead levels and Legionnaires disease.
Detroit Today host Stephen Henderson talks to Michigan Public Radio’s Rick Pluta, who is in Washington this week to follow the Congressional Flint hearings. Pluta says he expects a tone from Snyder similar to the tone in his State of the State address, and “to make an act of contrition,” but to also maintain that they are working to resolve the problem.
Today Flint Emergency Manager Darnell Earley will testify before Congress. Pluta expects that throughout the hearings Republicans will focus questioning towards the EPA administrators, while Democrats will focus more on what the state did wrong. Pluta says, “this is going to be a political issue and Dems are going to exploit it.”
