Tiff Massey

On the latest episode of Detroit Evening Report Weekends, WDET’s Tia Graham spoke with artist Tiff Massey.

Massey trained as a metalsmith at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. She is well known for her public works.  She has won several prestigious awards, including the Knight Arts Challenge and the Kresge Artists Fellowship.

Massey’s 7Mile + Livernois exhibit opened at the Detroit Institute of Arts in May. It features jewelry scaled “to the size of architecture.”

Tia interviewed Massey on WDET’s The Metro.

Massey spoke with Tia about the exhibit, how Black and African culture inspire her work and the very Detroit habit of using street intersections in introductions.
