WDET Hosts Movement Picks

Waajeed, The Boulevard

  • DJ Godfather – DJ Godfather has been a mainstay on my list of top DJ’s here in the D. His production and DJ chops are like no other. Prepare for a mix of turntablism and some booty shaking for his performance on Sunday May.
  • Ladymonix – This dynamic producer and amazing DJ from Baltimore is currently a Detroit resident. Expect to hear a great set with fun energy. Her performance will be on Sunday.
  • Carl Craig – This Detroit legend will play a rare set for his hometown on Saturday starting at 10:30 p.m. on the Pyramid stage. I have the pleasure of playing an opening set for him on the same stage that night at 7:30 p.m.

Jon Moshier, Modern Music

  • Mount Kimbie – London duo-turned-full band with roots in electronic dance music and influences ranging from indie, hip-hop, shoe gaze and minimalist music. See them Sunday at 9:30 p.m. on the Waterfront stage.

  • Floating Points – Innovative British electronic producer with a PhD in neuroscience pulling from a diverse range of influences and known for leading a 16-piece ensemble and collaborating with jazz saxophone legend Pharaoh Sanders. See him Sunday at 8 p.m. on the Waterfront stage.
