Detroit Tigers fans will notice some new upgrades when they enter Comerica Park during opening day next year.

The team announced plans to install a new videoboard, upgrade the venue’s audio system and add TVs in the concourse. The videoboard measures at 15,688 square feet, which will make it the second largest in Major League Baseball after Citi Field’s 17,400 square feet board, home to the New York Mets.

Work on the new videoboard began on Dec. 14 and will continue throughout the winter. The new TVs along the concourse will have improved visuals and show multiple feeds, including the Tigers’ minor league affiliates the Toledo Mud Hens and West Michigan Whitecaps.

“Investing in a world-class entertainment experience at Comerica Park for Tigers fans is a top priority for our organization and we are excited to make these enhancements heading into next season,” Ilitch Sports + Entertainment EVP/COO Ryan Gustafson said in a statement. “Fans will see and hear a noticeable difference on Opening Day with a new videoboard more than double the size of the existing one, and significant advancements to the audio and television systems throughout the ballpark.”

The Tigers’ 2024 opening day is scheduled for April 5 against the Oakland Athletics.

The Tigers ended the 2023 season with a 78-84 record and said farewell to longtime superstar Miguel Cabrera. While Miggy is now a special assistant to Detroit’s front office, he announced his plans to play one final season in his home country for the Tigres de Aragua in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League for the 2024-25 season.
