Detroit artist, musician and activist Shiva Honey’s newest project explores the cathartic connections between music and spirituality in times of grief and loss. Devotion: Ritual Music for Love, Loss & Desire is her first full-length album, and centers around healing rituals featured in her book, “The Devil’s Tome: A Book of Modern Satanic Ritual.”

As one of the founders of nonprofit organization The Satanic Temple, she’s long been involved in the intersection of politics, religion and spiritual practice. An album release celebration for Devotion will take place on Sunday, July 30 at an undisclosed location.

Shiva Honey joined CultureShift to discuss the creative process behind Devotion and how she aims to create a space for emotional healing and introspection with the new record.

“This is a way to touch people in a different way and express my message and to share, hopefully, things that can bring them to a better sense of self and help them discover who they are and their own magic and their desires, through listening to this record.” — Shiva Honey
