Detroit Evening Report, Aug. 24, 2022: Biden announces plan to forgive student loans

Welcome to the Detroit Evening Report, a daily round-up of news that city residents need to know.

President Biden released his plan Wednesday to relieve student loan debt for many Americans. Borrowers who earn less than $125,000 a year in households where total earnings are less than $250,000 are eligible for relief. The plan is to lower student loan debt for those who qualify by $10,000. Pell Grant recipients can receive up to $20,000 in debt relief.
