It’s travel season in Michigan, and that often means packing the car and hitting the road. During the summer months, residents explore beaches, bike, and take walks along the Great Lakes.

But Michigan — as one license plate notes — is a water, “winter”, wonderland. That means there’s also no shortage of activities during the colder months — like skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing or just sitting somewhere in a hot tub outside.

During any season, two Michiganders in particular do a lot of travelling throughout the state. Tom Daldin and Jim Edelman host “Under the Radar Michigan,” a PBS program that highlights all the fun and quirky sides the area has to offer.

Tom Daldin is a host and writer of the PBS television program, “Under The Radar Michigan.” He also wrote, “Under The Radar Michigan: Yet Another 50: Why Stop Now?”

“We feature things that are 30 minutes from my house that were under my radar,” says Daldin of the project.

Jim Edelman is the executive producer of “Under the Radar Michigan” and helped put together the show’s third book. He says there are a ton of good restaurants that have opened in the last decade, specifically in Detroit.

“The restaurant scene blew up like none of us — who are longtime residents — expected,” says Edelman.
