Mackinac Policy Conference: Providing relief for Michiganders, finalizing the budget are paramount, Whitmer says

The Whitmer administration is seeking to provide a $500 tax rebate to Michiganders as a quick way to give people some financial assistance.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer envisioned the year 2100 in her keynote speech at the Mackinac Policy Conference. In her speech, Whitmer asserted Michigan has the opportunity to become a leader, in terms of protecting the Great Lakes and human rights, and once again becoming a manufacturing hub. Until then, she hopes to give Michiganders financial relief to help with inflation issues and the ongoing economic disruptions due to the pandemic.

“Time is of the essence, and certainly not everything needs to be figured out before the election but getting a budget done and getting people relief right now are paramount.”—Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Gretchen Whitmer is the governor for the state of Michigan. Her administration is seeking to provide a $500 tax rebate to Michiganders as a quick way to give people some financial assistance.

“We can afford to give people some relief right now and I am interested in doing that,” says Whitmer. “I am not interested in games or talking points, I want to get some money in people’s pockets who are struggling to pay the bills or struggling to gas up their car.”
