The two hosts of MichMash, Jake Neher and Cheyna Roth, have history. Cheyna took Jake’s job at Michigan Public Radio Network in 2016 when he came to work at WDET. During the transition, a friendship was formed. Soon after, Cheyna and Jake teamed up to make a podcast that would make the complex, often confusing world of politics in Michigan understandable for people who aren’t state politics reporters. That podcast was MichMash.
Five years later, Cheyna and Jake have unjumbled Lansing’s thorniest issues every Friday, like the Enbridge Line 5 saga, redistricting, COVID-19 mandates, and the plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
But, change is a fact of life, and so Jake’s journey producing and hosting MichMash with Cheyna comes to an end. He has taken on a new role at Automotive News heading up their audio endeavors. In this episode, Jake says goodbye, and members of the Capitol press corps join Cheyna in wishing him well.
Even though Jake is moving on from MichMash, Cheyna will continue to unjumble state politics every Friday, and you’ll hear some new voices in the mix, too.
