Welcome to the Detroit Evening Report, a daily round-up of news that city residents need to know.

Video released by Grand Rapids Police shows the details of the fatal shooting of a Black man following a traffic stop in April. The footage shows an officer kneeling on Patrick Lyoya’s back, fatally shooting him on the ground. Protesters in Grand Rapids had been calling for the video’s release since the 26-year-old was fatally shot on April 4. Police say he fought with an officer after his car was stopped because of an issue with the license plate. State police are investigating the shooting. The medical examiner says the autopsy report won’t be publicly available until state police complete their work. The officer involved in the shooting is on paid leave.
