Detroit Entrepreneurs Launch Michigan Fields, Fresh Food Delivery Service
Michigan Fields is an online provider of direct-to-consumer, locally sourced produce, meat, dairy, and baked goods delivered to Michigan families’ homes.
Two Detroit entrepreneurs have teamed to take food insecurity during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Michigan Fields supports Michigan farmers as well as provides healthier eating options to thousands of Michigan families. It launched in March in response to the challenges of accessing food due to COVID-19.
“You could have a complete, diverse diet by just eating what is grown in our home state.” — Drew Patrick, Michigan Fields
The initiative is the brainchild of Drew Patrick, owner of creative agency Skidmore Studio, and Brandon Send, owner of Michigan Farm to Freezer. The two have been working together for three years through their respective Detroit-based businesses before the launch of Michigan Fields. They cultivated relationships over the past several years with Michigan growers, processors, and distributors that specialize in high-quality, Michigan-grown products.
The Michigan Fields online grocer includes food produced by Zingerman’s Bakehouse, Guernsey Farms Dairy, Farm Country Cheese House, Michigan Farm to Freezer, Double L Farm, Koeze, McClure’s, Birch Bay Organics and many others.
“Many people don’t know that Michigan is not only the second most diverse agricultural state in the country next to California, we have over 300 products that we grow alone in our state,” Patrick says. “So you could have a complete, diverse diet by just eating what is grown in our home state.”
In addition to the health benefits of eating locally grown food, Michigan Fields provides safe, no-contact front door delivery, it supports Michigan farmers and producers and shortens the supply chain between fresh, local food and Michiganders.
