Check Out These Weird Homes in Detroit You Can Tour Saturday
The Weird Homes Tour is a national tour coming to Detroit this weekend. Here are some of our favorite strange places.
Returning to Detroit for a second time, the Weird Homes Tour is wild, odd, and can encourage us to embrace our inner-strange.
This Saturday, August 24, tourists gain access to spaces across the city like Disneyland in Hamtramck, a Pop-Up Art House in Royal Oak and a deeper look inside the Dabls Mbad Bead Museum in Detroit on Grand River.
“The point of it is to take some of this into your own hands. Change your perspective a bit,” says Julién Godman, coordinator for the Detroit edition of the national Weird Homes Tour. “It’s okay to make a lime green mosaic wall in your foyer. It’s okay to put some large, wacky, art structures in your front lawn if you want; it’s your space. Do what you want with it.”
Godman adds, “It’s kind of like an inspirational tour for other homeowners or [aspiring] homeowners.”
