Allye Gaietto Performs Live at WDET

Local singer/songwriter plays two exclusive songs and discusses her lifelong passion for the piano ahead of her show at PJ’s Lager House

Allye Gaietto

Singer/songwriter Allye Gaietto knew she wanted to play piano before she even went to kindergarten. Her soulful ballads and melodic choruses blur the lines of folk and indie-rock, and she’s often joined by an ensemble of guitar, bass and drums, but she visited WDET’s Studio A to perform two exclusive live songs on piano.

The Hamtramck-based artist will be joined by her band at PJs Lager House this Sunday night with Ryan Trager and Jordana Talsky. Along with her melodic, piano-centric folk-rock arrangements, she’s also part of a rock-pop quartet called Junk Food Junkies, and spends the rest of her time as Student Services Coordinator at the Detroit Institute of Music (DIME).

You can hear more of her songs, augmented with guitar, bass and drums, via her Bandcamp. She spoke with CultureShift’s Jeff Milo about her life in music, and opened up the set with a song called “Soon,” her 2019 submission to NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest.
