Detroit PAL is turning 50, and its marking that anniversary with a celebration this weekend called A Family Field Day Classic. The event takes place Saturday, May 18 from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm at The Corner Ballpark, the site of the historic Tiger Stadium.

Judy Dowling, the Founder of Detroit PAL, joins Detroit Today to discuss the organization’s service to the community and its contributions to youth development and success through organized sports. Dowling is joined by Robert Jamerson, the Interim CEO of Detroit PAL, in sharing the program’s legacy.

“I feel like a person who has found an acorn in the middle of the street and planted it, and came back 50 years later to find it has grown into an oak tree,” says Dowling.
