In Pursuit of Perfection: Britney Stoney on Style and Songwriting
Britney Stoney stops by WDET ahead of shows at Detroit Foundation Hotel, Ziggy’s
At this point, Britney Stoney is a quintessentially multi-hyphenate artist: singer/songwriter/guitarist/playwright, and we’re sure she’ll be adding more soon. She has been writing and performing music in Detroit for several years, during which she has released multiple EPs and a handful of singles. The Kresge Foundation took notice of her talents, making her a Music Fellow back in 2014.
Jeff Milo sat down with Stoney at WDET Studios to talk about how she developed her sound, where she fits amid all the genres she’s experimented with, and developing a sense for exactly what she wants in her songwriting. Stoney is currently looking forward to new songs, but like all great things, “it takes time.” You can catch her May 3 at Ziggy’s, a new venue in Ypsilanti.
