What Do Absentee Voting Returns Tell Us About What to Expect for the Election?

It’s Election Day! Polls are open across Michigan from 7 am to 8 pm.

It’s too early to know exactly what results will looks like. But there’s at least some data that can tell us a bit about what to expect.

Dennis Darnoi is a Republican political consultant who tracks absentee ballot returns. So far, we’re seeing very high rates of absentee ballot returns.

Darnoi joins Detroit Today with Stephen Henderson to talk about what the early data tells us and about what kinds of people are sending back ballots at especially high rates.

“If all things are equal, we should see record turnout today,” says Darnoi. “The expectation of 3.8 million in 2006 is going to be surpassed this go around.”
