Get to Know the Candidates for Michigan State Senate District 2

Adam Hollier is the Democratic candidate and Lisa Papas is the Republican vying for the seat.

Michigan’s 2nd Senate District covers the five Grosse Pointes, Harper Woods, Hamtramck, Highland Park and parts of Detroit. The last state senator in the district, Bert Johnson, resigned amidst scandal.

Republican Lisa Papas and Democrat Adam Hollier are now vying to fill the 2nd District seat for the term that starts in January. Hollier is running unopposed to fill the remainder of Bert Johnson’s term between November and early January.

To get to know the candidates, WDET’s Laura Herberg interviewed each of them for more than 45 minutes. She shadowed Hollier at a charity basketball game and she followed Papas while canvassing in the district.
