Sean Ryan Everett is the executive director of the Detroit Public Library Foundation and Crystal Powell is the board president. Everett believes that libraries have a chance to innovate and offer more than just books.

“I want to take it in an un-traditional direction,” Everett told Powell during their StoryCorps interview. “I see us as having the opportunity to disrupt libraries a little bit… and bring something different,” he said.

In this StoryCorps Detroit segment, Everett and Powell talk about what they see as the hidden gems of Detroit’s libraries.
