Teachers Union Says Company Sent A Spy
AFT accuses Project Veritas of trying to make “sting” video.
The Michigan chapter of the American Federation of Teachers secured an emergency restraining order Friday against a company it accuses of illegal surveillance. AFT President Randi Weingarten said the union believes an employee of Project Veritas worked as an intern for AFT Michigan and secretly filmed the organization to create the kind of “sting” video that has landed Project Veritas in court before.
Weingarten said AFT Michigan staff caught the woman going through desks and computers.
“So the level of trespass and fraud and infiltration is more like what Putin and Russia would do than frankly anything we’ve ever seen,” Weingarten said.
Project Veritas has faced criminal charges for recordings targeting Planned Parenthood and for tactics used to record former Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu. The company has also targeted news organizations, including CNN and NPR.
