John Cleese Brings Monty Python to Detroit

“You never, ever know what’s going to happen. It’s surprising how different the evenings are.”

A comedic legend will land in Detroit this week. John Cleese (Monty Python, “A Fish Called Wanda”) will be screening “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” before a lengthy, career-spanning Q&A with WDET’s Ryan Patrick Hooper on stage at the Fillmore Detroit on Thursday, September 28th. Tickets are available here.

Cleese says each show is different thanks to his dedicated fans. “You never, ever know what’s going to happen,” says Cleese. “It’s surprising how different the evenings are.”

Cleese says that after decades of performing as an actor and writer — and no doubt being one of the most influential figures in comedy ever — that being truthful during his tour stops is the most important part. “They want something that’s a bit more authentic,” says Cleese. “If you go out there and tell the truth and really try to be honest about things, I think that’s interesting to people.”
