DDP Get Grant for Green Infrastructure, Protected Bike Lanes

Detroit’s Capitol Park may soon be seeing some new green infrastructure thanks to a gift from the Erb Family Foundation.
The Downtown Detroit Partnership is receiving a $250,000 grant to help install stormwater infrastructure and protected bike lanes.
James Fidler is a planner with the partnership. He says it’s important for Downtown Detroit to make this kind of green investment.
“It’s really kind of showing sort of cutting edge, innovative design in a way, in very public areas that can hopefully be able to be replicated across the city and really across the region,” Fidler says.
Fidler says the partnership plans to expand the project throughout downtown.
He says construction is scheduled to begin next year.
