DNR Proposes Changes to Deer Hunting Regulations
Plan calls for changes to antler restrictions and out-of-state hunting
Over 600,000 Michigan deer hunters are facing changes to state regulations. A recent meeting presented proposed changes by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Department of Natural Resources Deer, Elk and Moose Specialist, Chad Stewart, tells WDET’s Amy Miller that some of the changes are attempts to control Bovine Tuberculosis, a deadly bacterial infection that can also spread to cattle, and Chronic Wasting Disease, a neurological infection similar to “mad cow disease”. Stewart says expanding antler restrictions from 12 to 18 counties is also on the list of proposed changes.
