School Reform Officer In the Running for TN Superintendent Post

Baker is one of two Michigan candidates in Chattanooga.

The State School Reform Officer is in the running for a new job.

Natasha Baker is one of 9 finalists for superintendent of Hamilton County Schools in Tennessee. The district has  around 43,000 students and 79 schools in and around Chattanooga.

Under Baker, the School Reform Office developed plans to place Chief Executive Officers over poor performing schools. The SRO also identified 38 Michigan schools for possible closure early this year. Districts have entered into agreements with the state to avoid those closures.

Baker received her doctorate in education from the University of Michigan – Dearborn last week.

A second Michigan educator is among the Hamilton County finalists. The Education Achievement Authority’s Chief Schools Officer Jack Elsey is also being considered for the position.
