The Progressive Underground Show 210: Modern Soul Divas Edition (feat. GOAPELE)
On this episode, we spotlight key women figures in modern soul and interview soul artist GOAPELE
On tonight’s edition of The Progressive Underground, we spotlight the music of many of the female innovators of modern soul music (neo soul, progressive soul, future soul, indie soul, etc) as we play tracks from some of the genre’s established stars as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, Amel Larrieux, RES, Les Nubians, and N’Dambi as well as other emerging acts such as Carmen Rodgers, Yolanda Johnson, Tracy Cruz, Ego Ella May, Syd, Arima Ederra, Anna Wise, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Ideeyah, Monica Blaire and many more.
We also have a do-over with soul artist GOAPELE, who was slated for an interview last week, but due to extenuating circumstances has been rescheduled for today. We explore the outer reaches of electronica through the genres of future soul, techno, deep house, nu-jazz, b-sides and rare grooves. We go from 8-11 pm EST on 101.9 WDET and wdet.org.
