The Wall Speaks: Voices of the Unheard

A multi-faceted installation is visiting Hamtramck’s Bank Suey.

The Wall Speaks is a complex and deeply moving exhibition by visual artist Wojtek Sawa. Through bricks, interactivity, large translucent photos and stories of past and present marginalization, Sawa’s installation simultaneously captures and juxtaposes moments in time. The moments in question focus on Polish youth in WWII era Europe, and those living in the modern world who have felt the pangs of abuse from “otherness.” The exhibition is on display through May 29, 2017 at the community gathering space Bank Suey in Hamtramck. Sawa worked with the venue’s owner Alissa Shelton to not only transform her space into a “pop-up museum,” but also to create a series of events that will occur in conjunction with The Wall Speaks.
