Countdown is On for I-75 Closure in Southwest Detroit

MDOT will have one more public meeting before Rouge River Bridge closes Feb. 4.

Southbound I-75 over the Rouge River is scheduled to close on Feb. 4. The Michigan Department of Transportation says workers will detour traffic onto westbound I-96 as they prepare to replace the bridge deck above the river. The project, which also includes the replacement of bridges over I-75 downriver, is expected to last about two years. MDOT will hold its final public meeting on the project Thursday, Jan. 26 in Woodhaven, near the south end of the construction zone. Spokeswoman Diane Cross tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller people who live and work in that area can ask questions and raise concerns at the meeting. It’s scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Woodhaven Community Center, 23101 Hall Rd. near I-75 and West Road. Click on the audio player to hear the conversation.
