Wright Museum Exhibit Explores African American History Through Dolls
Dolls document the history, faith and experiences of Africans and African Americans from the 1800s through today.
The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is hosting a doll party Saturday. The event is, in part, a celebration of the exhibit I See Me: Reflections in Black Dolls.
WDET’s Sascha Raiyn spoke with Juanita Moore, the Wright Museum’s president and CEO. Moore says the exhibit features dolls from the 1800s through today and shows that they are not only toys, but spiritual, cultural…and political objects.
The museum will host the Pretty As A Doll party Saturday at 2pm.
