A Detroit Family Receives Fully Furnished Home For The Holidays

A single mother receives a home on Detroit’s Eastside

Family for the Holidays

The Detroit Lions and Habitat for Humanity are giving a brand new home to a Detroit family.

The organizations presented East side residents Shakira Austin and her mother with a fully furnished home Tuesday.

Austin also received a five-thousand dollar check from the Lions to help pay the interest on the home.

Detroit Lions Receiver Golden Tate says the effort is about giving back to the community.

“Today is not about liking football or not liking football, we’re just extremely blessed to be a part of this and to see the emotions they have while walking into their brand new home as a house owner it’s a very special moment to own your own house, so, I plan on coming back for a housewarming.”

The home was completely furnished and stocked with essentials by the companies Art Van and Meijer.
