WHAT’S THE NAME OF THIS TOWN?

This weekend’s installment of The Progressive Underground will be a special “THE SCENE Tribute and Takeover edition.” During the 1970s and 1980s, THE SCENE dance show featured the hottest Detroit area dancers, along with local and national recording artists.

Joining Progressive Underground host Chris Campbell in studio will be THE SCENE’s iconic frontman and host Nat Morris; DJ Hump the Grinder, who provided many of THE SCENE’s mega mixes and who now produces Hair Wars; affiliated tastemakers RJ Watkins & Henry Tyler; along with the show’s popular dancers including “Fast Freddy” Anderson, Lawanda Gray-Anner and Moses.

Morris and the crew will “takeover” the Progressive Underground and change the name of MOTOWN to GEEKTOWN playing music popularized on THE SCENE in addition to sharing reflections and discussing the show’s impact on the Detroit music and cultural communities.

It will truly be a night of music, memories and more!  The action takes place this Sunday, December 4, 8-11 pm EST on 101.9 WDETand wdet.org.
