Michigan GOP Chair Vows to Dispatch Over 100 Attorneys to Watch for Voter Fraud
Michigan GOP chair says party will station attorneys at polls to prevent Clinton from “stealing” election via fraud.
A top Michigan Republican Party official reportedly says the party will deploy a cadre of attorneys to polling places on election night to watch for potential voter fraud.
In recent days GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has blasted what he says may be a “rigged” election process throwing the presidential race to his opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton.
Now The Detroit News reports that Michigan Republican Party Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel wrote in a recent fundraising message to potential donors that the party will place more than 100 attorneys at polling places to watch for voter fraud.
The GOP chair wrote in the letter that she would not let Clinton “steal the election” from Trump.
Political parties often send attorneys and other observers to watch how ballots are handled during an election and protest anything they see as possible fraud.
And a spokesperson for the Michigan Republican Party reportedly says the GOP is worried about widespread voter fraud in other states, not here.
Michigan Republican Secretary of State Ruth Johnson says she has “full confidence” in the ballot system she oversees.
