AAA Courts Non-Auto Owners As Potential Members

Auto club marks 100th anniversary in Michigan.

The first Automobile Association of America meeting in Michigan happened at the Detroit Athletic Club in 1916, when most people did not own an automobile. Over the last century, the group has grown from 19 members to more than 1.4 million today. AAA Michigan President Joe Richardson tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller promoting safe roads has been one of the association’s main goals since the beginning. He also says there’s a place in the auto club for people who don’t own automobiles, including those who rely on mass transit or ride-sharing services.
