We can stop calling Donald Trump the GOP’s “presumptive” nominee. The Republican National Convention (RNC) made it official on Tuesday, the controversial New York businessman is now the leader of the party. We also heard from two of Trump’s kids, Tiffany Trump and Donald Trump Jr.

From Donald Jr.’s speech:

“I know my father. I know that when people tell him, ‘it can’t be done,’ that guarantees that he gets it done. I know that when someone tells him that something is impossible, that’s what triggers him into action.”

Detroit News reporter Chad Livengood calls Detroit Today from the convention in Cleveland to give us a sense of the scene and the mood at the RNC.

“This is not your father’s Republican National Convention,” says Livengood. “It is a different scene, an unconventional candidate, and he’s putting on an unconventional convention, to say the least.”

“There is an element of surprise and unpredictability,” he says. “And that is one of the tenants of the Donald Trump campaign.”
