Big Freighter Stuck on the Rocks in Lake Superior

The Roger Blough hits rocky reef on May 27th and still sits on the bottom

One of the largest freighters on the Great Lakes remains grounded on a rock reef in Lake Superior. The 833-Foot Roger Blough ran aground on Friday, May 27th. The well-known freighter draws about 28 feet of water when she is loaded, and can carry nearly 44-thousand tons of cargo. WDET’s Amy Miller spoke with U-S Coast Guard Petty Officer Christopher Yaw to find out how crews plan to get the boat off the rocks.
