Motor City Makeover Kicks Off
Duggan is calling on residents to volunteer for this year’s Motor City Makeover campaign.
Mayor Mike Duggan kicked off the Motor City Makeover campaign today at Cody High School on Detroit’s west side. The campaign calls on residents, community groups, and businesses to volunteer to clean up the city.
Duggan says the Motor City Makeover effort has played a great part in turning around neighborhoods like the one near Cody High School.
“And the reality is city government can’t do everything,” Duggan says. It’s got to be a partnership with the community, with the business leadership and our own officials, and this neighborhood and this school is a great example.
Duggan says 8,000 volunteers picked up 1,300 tons of debris across the city last year. He says volunteers can register online to participate in three clean up events in May.
