Hamtramck Schools Cleared Following Lockdowns

Hamtramck schools were put on alert following a report of a person with a gun at Hamtramck High School.

Schools in Hamtramck were put on lockdown today. The city’s schools were put on alert when an anonymous call reported a person with a gun at Hamtramck High School. The city’s police department then began security procedures, clearing schools one at a time. The lockdown at Hamtramck High School lasted 30 minutes, while the other six schools in the public school district were removed from lockdown just after 12:30 this afternoon. Charter schools in the area were also secureds and cleared. Detectives with the Hamtramck Police Department are investigating the matter.
