New Federal Budget Brings Michigan More Money to Fight Blight
Rep. Kildee says Flint, Saginaw, and Detroit would all benefit.
The new federal budget includes up to $2 billion additional dollars to fight blight in American cities hit hardest by the Great Recession. Michigan has already received more than $200 million from the Hardest Hit Fund to tear down and clean up blighted properties in Detroit, Flint, and Saginaw. Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Flint) tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller how much new funding the state will receive has yet to be determined.
