Wayne County Finances Firming Up
CEO Warren Evans says running deficit is gone, but challenges remain
Wayne County Executive Warren Evans says the county’s finances are in much better shape than they were when he took office in January. He says the $82 million accumulated deficit has been eliminated, along with about $1 billion in unfunded health care liabilities. In an interview with WDET reporters, Evans said it couldn’t have happened without the support of the county commission and unions. Click on the audio player to hear the conversation.
