Report: Detroit’s Parks Are in Better Condition [Map]

90 percent of Detroit’s parks are in good or fair condition according to Loveland Technologies.

A new report says a large majority of Detroit’s parks are in good or fair condition. Loveland Technologies surveyed over 300 parks in the city last summer. It’s releasing the study to better understand how Detroit’s Parks and Recreation Department is faring following the bankruptcy. John Grover is the Manager of Survey Operations at Loveland Technologies. He says the parks have made significant improvements over the last year.

“More parks are mowed, the equipment is in better condition, the recreation centers are in good shape. There’s still some progress that needs to be made, particularly in the areas of graffiti and people stealing metal from the playground equipment and the fences, but the change has been for the better, considerably for the better.”

Grover says the survey will establish a baseline for future studies.
