Sandy Baruah Discusses What the MICHauto Summit Will Mean for Michigan

Does Michigan have what it takes to become a leader in the world’s auto market?

Sandy Baruah, CEO of Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, talks with Stephen about the 2015 MICHauto Summit and how Michigan must cement itself as the world leader in auto making.

  • Competition: “We have to walk and talk at the same time,” Baruah says. He goes on to say that we have to be protective of our industry from other countries and prepare for the next step in the auto industry.
  • MICHauto: This Wednesday the summit will meet at Detroit’s Cobo Center to talk about the next generation of cars. “We want to make sure that it’s Michigan at the epicenter,” says Baruah, “not Germany.”
  • Mcity: The test facility will provide the perfect place for Michigan to test out its automated vehicles safely. “We are actually, as a society, relatively close to the fully-automated vehicle, the truly autonomous vehicle,”  says Baruah.
