Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and J.P. Morgan Chase Bank announced the grand opening of the Rainer Courts Apartments in Midtown.

The ribbon cutting is the first finished project for Chase Bank as part of its $100 million commitment to the city.

Mayor Duggan says the neighborhood has changed from rundown buildings to the restoration of almost every apartment in the area.

“It’s just remarkable to see the business and the people moving back to this neighborhood and as you can see, this is a beautiful neighborhood,” Duggan says. “There is no reason why it should have been abandoned, and now it’s coming back very strong.”

Duggan says Chase has played a big role in Detroit’s rebirth. Nine more projects financed through Chase will be opening, breaking ground, or expanding this year.
